A major smuggling operation has been uncovered in Pakur, Jharkhand, following a road accident involving a speeding Scorpio vehicle. The incident occurred when the vehicle struck a pedestrian, prompting the driver to attempt a hasty escape from the scene. However, the driver was intercepted by the vigilant victim and bystanders who immediately alerted law enforcement authorities.
Upon conducting a thorough inspection of the vehicle, police discovered a significant quantity of tobacco stashed inside. Preliminary investigations reveal that the illicit consignment was being smuggled from neighboring West Bengal, intended for transport to Maheshpur. Both the vehicle and the driver have been taken into custody.
Police are now widening their probe to dismantle the smuggling network, focusing on the supply route and the overall scale of this illegal operation. Further investigation is ongoing to determine if additional individuals are involved in the smuggling syndicate.
